Olympic Esports Games: Vote in July
The IOC Executive Board decided in mid-June to establish the Olympic Esports Games, and the proposal will be presented to IOC members for a vote at the 142nd Session (July 22-24) in Paris. If the delegates give the green light, the city, venue, timing, qualification process, and other details will be determined. Accepted forms of E-Sports for the IOC include virtual sports and sports simulations.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, expressed his country’s excitement about the prospect of collaborating with the IOC to usher in a completely new era of international sports. Saudi Arabia takes pride in paving the way for a new chapter in Olympic history that has the potential to inspire millions of athletes worldwide with new dreams and ambitions.
