Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Disrupts Essential Mod, yet Players Discover Solutions.

Published

on

Bethesda has released Fallout 4’s next-gen update today, which has unfortunately caused issues with some important mods. One of the most impacted mods is the Fallout 4 Script Extender (F4SE), a crucial resource for modding that enhances scripting capabilities without causing permanent side effects. Many mods rely on F4SE to function properly, making modding Fallout 4 much more complex without it.

The recent Fallout 4 update (1.10.980 and later) has broken F4SE and other native code mods, similar to Skyrim’s ‘Anniversary Edition’ patch, according to F4SE developer ianpatt. While an update is in the works, there is no set timeline for its release, and any critical technical issues may delay its availability. Users are advised not to send inquiries via email.

Bethesda’s Fallout 4 next-gen update, released over eight years after the game’s launch, brings performance enhancements, Creation Club content, and more. Despite the modding challenges, players have found ways to mitigate the update’s impact on their modding experience.

Users on Nexus Mods have shared walkthroughs on disabling auto-updates and rolling back the new update to maintain mod functionality. Destructionares posted a detailed guide on reverting the update for those who missed preventing it from installing. GameRevolution and Nexus Mods also offer helpful resources for users who have yet to download the update.

Unfortunately, unless players are willing to wait for mod updates to adapt to the new patch, the only current options for modding are to revert the update.

Players have been discovering ways to adapt, but it’s not only typical mods affected by Bethesda’s latest update. The highly acclaimed Fallout London mod, known for introducing fresh storylines, settings, and other features, was initially scheduled for release earlier this week. However, with the announcement of the Fallout 4 update launching today, Team Folon had no choice but to postpone their project. A new release date has not been disclosed yet, as the team is uncertain about the time needed to adjust to Bethesda’s modifications.
