Potential Metaphor: ReFantazio Release Date Exposed Online.

Published

on

A potential Metaphor: The release date for ReFantazio has been leaked online, as a retailer listing indicates the game might be available on October 12. Despite this, some evidence hints at the possibility of the fantasy RPG from Atlus, the developer of Persona, being released a day earlier.

The announcement of Metaphor: ReFantazio was made by the Sega-owned studio in June 2023, with the reveal trailer premiering during Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase. Initially anticipated to launch on PC and consoles in the spring of 2024, Atlus and Sega later narrowed down the release window to fall.

Metaphor: ReFantazio Potentially Aiming for Mid-October Launch

Although the game does not have an official release date yet, a detailed online listing may have prematurely disclosed one. Discovered by Atlus leaker Midori, the Metaphor: ReFantazio page on the Hong Kong version of the Microsoft Store listed the release date as October 12. While placeholder dates are common in e-commerce, the specificity of this date raises the likelihood of the game launching on that day, especially considering the confirmed fall release window.

Historically, Atlus game release dates leaked through the Hong Kong Microsoft Store have sometimes been off by a day. For instance, the PC and Xbox version of Persona 5 Royal was initially set for an October 20 release but launched on October 21, 2022. While it’s uncertain if this will be the case again, the possibility remains, as an October 12 release for Metaphor: ReFantazio would deviate from the tradition of major Atlus fall releases occurring on Thursdays or Fridays. With October 12 falling on a Saturday, it suggests the game could potentially come out on the 11th.

Recent Major Atlus Fall Releases

Based on historical trends, October 11 is a potential release date for Metaphor: ReFantazio. The Microsoft Store page, which was quickly taken down on February 29, did not mention the game’s market timing in its latest version.

Sega has been participating in Microsoft’s gaming events, so it is possible that the official release date for Metaphor: ReFantazio will be announced around the RPG’s first-anniversary reveal. This could coincide with another Xbox Games Showcase in late spring or early summer. Meanwhile, Atlus is also releasing Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance in late June.
