Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered Announces Launch Platforms.

Published

on

Grasshopper Manufacture has unveiled the complete lineup of platforms for the highly anticipated Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered. This remastered version of Shadows of the Damned, which took gamers by surprise when it was announced last June, is considered an underrated gem by Grasshopper Manufacture, as it has been over a decade since its last modern release and was removed from digital stores in 2021.

Originally released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011, Shadows of the Damned was a collaborative effort between publisher Electronic Arts and Grasshopper Manufacture. The game was directed by Suda51, with contributions from Shinji Mikami, the former creative director of Resident Evil at Capcom, and Akira Yamaoka, the former composer of Silent Hill at Konami. Despite the impressive talent behind the scenes, the game faced challenges during its development, with Suda51 expressing frustration over creative interference from Electronic Arts. Shadows of the Damned received mixed reviews upon its initial release, but it has since gained a dedicated following and achieved cult status.

After showcasing a public demo of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered at PAX East, Grasshopper Manufacture confirmed the platforms on which the game will be available. The remastered version will be released on both the eighth and ninth generations of consoles, encompassing the previous and current generation PlayStation and Xbox systems. Additionally, this remaster marks the first time Shadows of the Damned will be available on the PC platform, with a release on the Steam storefront. Excitingly, Grasshopper Manufacture also announced that Hella Remastered will be launching on the Nintendo Switch, making it the game’s debut on a Nintendo console. Fans can now add the game to their wishlists on the respective digital store pages.

PC (via Steam), PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S are the platforms on which Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered is expected to be released in 2024. Director Suda51 has confirmed this release window, and the official Grasshopper Manufacture Twitter account has reiterated that the game will indeed launch later this year.

Shadows of the Damned is a third-person shooter game that draws inspiration from Resident Evil 4. Players assume the role of Garcia Hotspur as he embarks on a perilous journey through the underworld to rescue his girlfriend from the clutches of the demonic lord Fleming. Known for its dark humor, excessive gore, and sexual innuendos, this cult classic from Grasshopper Manufacture has garnered a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting its remastered version. They are excited to see how the game will be enhanced and optimized for modern gaming systems.
